Mike Harvey’s Hot Club from New Orleans will appear at Blue Tavern for a one-time-only performance. Sadly, our own musical genius, Brett Gardner, moved away from Tallahassee but happily, he is now with the band and coming home! As an extra special treat, his friend, Mickey Abraham, will join them. These five talented guys will be a treat. Their style? Traditional Dixieland Jazz and Gypsy Jazz–also known as gypsy swing or hot club jazz (according to Wikipedia, “a style of jazz music generally accepted to have been started by the gypsy guitarist Jean “Django” Reinhardt in and around Paris in the 1930s.”) The band’s name comes from two sources: “Hot Club” from the hot jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli’s Quintette du Hot Club de France. Get tickets in advance for $15 because it may sell out (tickets at the door will be $20).
